Welcome to the Department of Accounting
Overview
The Department of Accounting and Finance was established in 1958 alongside the founding of the Faculty of Economics at the National University of Mongolia (NUM). It was one of three foundational departments – along with Political Economy and Economics of National Economy Branches – created under Rector’s Order No. 352.
Lecturer J. Osor was appointed to lead the newly formed Department.
In 1959, the department became one of six core departments at the newly established Institute of Economics, following the reorganization of the Higher Party School by the decision of the Central Committee of the MPRP.
Today, the Department of Accounting plays a vital role in training highly
qualified professionals and actively contributes to the development of national educational standards and academic policy across Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral levels.

- 2006: First accreditation of the Bachelor’s in Accounting program
- 2013: Re-accredited for 5 years
- 2013: Business programs accredited by ACBSP (Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs)
- 2016: Launch of the Master's in Asset Valuation
- 2019: Launch of the Master's in Accounting
- 2022: Bachelor’s program accredited for the third time (5 years)
