Overview
The Marketing and Trade Department of the Business School at the National University of Mongolia (NUM) strives to align the theoretical and practical knowledge and skills of its graduates with the standards of the world’s leading universities. Our goal is to produce specialists in marketing, international trade, and customs management who hold a leading position nationally.
Through the diligent efforts of various leadership, faculty members, and researchers over the years, we have built a rich history spanning over 60 years. We have continually maintained the legacy of providing “Higher Education in Business Management” tailored to meet market demands.
Since its establishment, the Marketing and Trade Department has evolved alongside changing circumstances, with its name changing as follows:
- Department of Trade Economics (1959-1988)
- Department of Sectoral Economic Planning (1988-1992)
- Department of Marketing Studies (1992-1993)
- Department of Marketing (1993-1997)
- Business Management Sector with the Department of Management (1997-1999)
- Department of Marketing and International Trade (1999-2013)
- Marketing Program and Trade Program (2014-2016)
- Marketing and Trade Department (2016~)
In the spring semester of 2016, the Business School transitioned from a program-based organization to a departmental structure, creating four departments, one of which is the Marketing and Trade Department. Currently, the department comprises 14 full-time faculty members and 2 adjunct associate professors. Since 2023, Dr. U.Nominjtsetseg has served as the head of the department.
The department prepares specialists in foreign trade, customs management, and marketing. Our values align with the values of NUM and its strategic plans throughout the years. According to NUM’s strategic plan for 2025-2026, we emphasize the following values:

The Marketing and Trade Department offers a Bachelor’s program in Trade, focusing on Foreign Trade and Customs Management, International Trade, and a Marketing program covering Marketing Management, Digital Marketing, and Creative Marketing.
At the Master’s level, we offer programs in International Trade, International Business, and Marketing Management.
